Iron sided and constructed buildings are not only reliable, fast to construct, and cost efficient, but they also hold doors to other benefits. It is crucial to note environmental responsibility when building a new structure whether it’s for your business, storage, or leisure. Being prudent with your budget and building resources will always yield a return for you and the environment. Keep in mind that steel is 100% recyclable. In fact, most steel framed construction materials used are from recycled steel. Recycled steel is created by melting down the steel material, purifying it and then reforming it into what shapes/products are needed. What is unique about the recycling process is that the steel material used doesn’t lose any strength during melting or reformation, unlike other frequently recycled materials. This also means that oceans, forests and other natural resources are not disturbed or destroyed during the process.

Steel Buildings are Efficient

Steel buildings also provide for cooler environments by reducing “heat-island” effects. A “heat-island” is essentially a built-up area that is hotter than nearby rural areas. You probably have felt this effect if you have ever noticed the difference in heat from standing in a grassy field, opposed to an empty concrete parking lot. This is important regarding efficiency because most steel buildings are equipped with lighter colored roofs because they can reflect up to 90% of solar energy while darker colored roofs are only able to reflect 10%. This translates into more savings on your utility bills because more solar energy is reflected, therefore creating less stress on your HVAC units to keep your building’s temperature comfortable. To optimize this, efficiency coatings are applied to metal roofs that further the effective range of reflectivity. At IronSite we take efficiency and environmental awareness very seriously, and it is imperative for our customers to know the benefits that our buildings are capable of providing them.
